The people in that photograph piss me off almost as much as the lynching itself.They’re smiling.Pointing.Just standing there looking at two dead Black boys.And I really wish I could look at that crowd and feel like I was looking at a country I don’t recognize…I can’t.Black families are still having to beg people to care when their child dies under circumstances they don’t understand.We just don’t print the pictures on postcards anymore.
